We know that healthcare can sometimes be confusing. At Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care we want to change that. Our goal is to ensure you’re receiving exceptional patient care and making informed decisions throughout your entire healthcare journey. That means at RSDHC we offer you the information you need for every stage of your care with us.
Our pre-admission visits are designed to ensure that patients due to be admitted to our hospitals are fully prepared and informed about their upcoming hospital stay. These visits provide a friendly opportunity to discuss your upcoming care with our team, raise any concerns you may have, and discuss the possible outcomes of your scheduled procedure.
Pre-admission clinics also give the opportunity for our staff to carry out any necessary tests required before your admission. These are so our highly-skilled specialists have all the information they require in order to provide you the best possible care at the time of admission.
Please check in as soon as you enter the hospital. That allows our experienced staff to provide you with any further paperwork required, as well as allowing them to guide you through the important stages of your hospital stay.
Please bring your admissions letter and all other requested information with you to hospital. It’s also important that you follow all the medical guidelines on that letter in regards to preparing for your time with us, such as fasting or stopping taking certain medications. If for some reason you’ve been unable to follow these guidelines, please advise our staff as soon as you are able.
Once you’ve checked in we will guide you to the right department, offering support if it is required. Your nurse will then provide you with an identification bracelet so your name and medical information is readily available to our staff at all times.
Once you are settled in the department where you will be receiving your care, our specialist teams will be on hand to talk you through the upcoming procedure, and guide you through anything else you need to know in regards to your time with us.
Before you are discharged our specialist consultants will discuss the outcomes of your admission, going through any potential test results and explaining to you the stages of care which follow. Once they deem you are fit and medically able, you are free to be discharged.
It’s important to understand that in many cases you will require a responsible friend or family member to collect you after your stay. This is often as a result of sedation or medications which have been used as part of your treatment, and is a requirement for us to discharge you.
Our experienced teams will provide you with advice on your immediate rest and recovery, including potential dietary guidelines and details of how much rest you should take before you are considered fit to perform a number of tasks.
What’s also important is that our specialists will lay out the future pathway for your care, whether that’s a welcome all clear or a discussion of when to expect further consultation or treatment. They are also on hand should you have any concerns after you are discharged. It’s important that you get in touch with your clinical team or relevant healthcare professional if you have any immediate concerns about your health once you are discharged.
